WISH was created to bridge the gap in information and awareness of women's health, particularly breast and cervical cancers, and bone and muscle loss. Since many women from the target communities work physically demanding jobs, this initiative comes as a necessary intervention. Through these efforts, WISH hopes to reduce the load on affected women by increasing awareness within their communities.
WISH will achieve these goals through several components, beginning with the Wishing for Wisdom Self-Check Primer, an easy-to-understand guide that teaches women how to perform breast and cervical cancer self-exams. WISH will also be partnering with on-ground, grassroot, non-governmental organizations to run educational sessions with women from marginalized communities to highlight cancer awareness and self-checks. The project also hopes to make a sustained impact through a multipronged approach of fundraising, medical camps, and real-time access to medical services.
Additionally with WISH’s roots firmly planted in women’s health awareness and encouragement of the removal of taboos from topics related to it, also aims to ensure promotion of overall female well-being through community based events and sessions oriented around not only illness related information but also daily care and mindfulness with regards to nutrition, especially as it relates to age and the challenges faced by women at different stages of their lives.
